Make sure you have the right software

First off, there's a lot of versions of TomTom Navigator 6 floating about the internet at the moment, the files you actually need to install on the N80 and other Symbian Series 60 v3 devices are not included in most of those.

There is a link on the following URL to 3 files which contain the full installation for TomTom Navigator 6, these are not legal downloads: http://www.clubnseries.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7901&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

luisan82's original instructions:

-Download these 3 files
http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=3BZXFR1B
http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=N6C1J1TQ
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0UZG96NZ
-Download a map of your interest like:
iberia-plus 650 (283MB) http://www.sexuploader.com/?d=7O8UJ5M7
iberia 650 (180MB) de http://rapidshare.de/files/32646858/Iberia.rar.html
-Unzip TomTom_6.010.rar file and copy all content inside folder to root directory of your memory card, overwritting files when asked
-Insert MC into your cell and autoinstall will start
-Unzip Iberia anb guam maps to root directory of your memory card
-Open tomtom, select Guam map, choose manual activation and copy ID.
-How2 use keygen:
1)Make a folder at C:\ called "keygen"
2)Copy Iberia.mid, Guam.mid and el TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe files to keygen folder.
3)Open a command prompt (start>run>cmd [enter]
4)type cd C:\keygen
5)type TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe Guam.mid [enter]
6)insert ID copied before [enter]
7)ready, activate Guam map.
Now you will be able to activate any map following the same workaround up

How I Did It

The first time I tried to install this I had problems, hosed the phone and needed to do a full reset, this is how to do it and *not* mess up the phone!

  • Put the phone in Data Transfer mode, rather than "PC Suite" and connect the USB Cable.
  • Unzip the TomTom_6.010.rar and copy it's contents to the root of the Memory Card. (You can leave out the *.zip files).
  • Disconnect the cable and wait a few moments, the phone should start auto-installing TomTom.
  • Once installed, reboot, check the application opens and run through the initial config, at this point it will complain about having no maps.
  • From the other download you have, copy the Map directory, eg: "Western_Europe" across to the memory card root using the Data Transfer mode and the USB cable again.
  • Once copied, disconnect the cable and open up TomTom again, you should now be able to select the map but it'll ask you to authorise them, use the Manual method and make a note of the Device ID.
  • Open up a cmd window and drag TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe into it to fill in the path to the exe, hit a space and then drag in the corresponding *.mid file from the `Western_Europe` directory.
  • Hit return and it should ask you for your Device ID which you made a note of above, enter it and hit return.
  • Copy the resulting authorisation key into TomTom and it should authorise the map and you'll be ready to roll.

Now wonder at the excellent piece of software, go out and buy it as soon as it's in the shops, safe in the knowledge it *does* work on the N80, despite it not being documented.
