Buffalo WHR-54GS Serial Port Conversion

Background

I would like to be able to add USB or Serial support to this device, but haven't seen anything on the net yet about how to do it or whether it's possible. There's a couple of links which give a little info, but it looks like the IO on the board is just good for Flash, rather than USB...

WHR-G54S SD/MMC module doesn't work - Someone else asking for info on the pin-outs on the motherboard.

I'm running OpenWRT with the RC4 White Russian build, system looks like this:
